Juliana von Sohsten
Juliana von Sohsten has long been involved in the field of wellness.
Although she received an undergraduate degree in business from
Salvador University in her native land of Brazil, this was just
preparation to pursue her passion. After moving to Philadelphia with
her husband, Roberto, she received an MBA in health care
administration from St. Joseph’s University. Her outstanding
academic record and her exceptional work in the field earned her a
position as practice manager at the Medical College of Pennsylvania.
Here, working with physical therapists, she discovered Pilates.
Afflicted with a significant curvature of her spine, she suffered
from debilitating back pain for many years.
When a therapist suggested she try Pilates, Juliana
learned first-hand the miracles wrought by The Method. Within the
first few sessions, the pain lessened and gradually her back muscles
strengthened. And her progress continued, even during her first
pregnancy. Delighted with the improvement she made, Juliana resolved
to share the benefits of Pilates with others.
After completing Power Pilates Comprehensive Certification, she
began teaching in Boca Raton. But she continued her studies,
attending workshops and seminars with Jay Grimes, Siri Dharma
Galliano, Daria Pace, Dorothee VandeWall, Chris Robinson, Juanita
Lopez, and Sari Mejia Santo. Her experience with these renowned
master trainers introduced her to the authentic classical Pilates
method. Juliana knew she had to take her education to another level,
completing the most prestigious Pilates certification, Romana’s
Pilates. She has also has extensive experience in Iyengar yoga.
Director of Training, Ashley Bachner, became fascinated with the
healing properties of Pilates after sustaining a dance injury. A
successful career on Broadway in Fosse, as well as a lengthy stint
at Radio City Music Hall as a Rockette took their toll on her body.
Through Pilates, she restored function and alleviated her pain,
while finding her second career. In 2003, she received Romana’s
Pilates certification under the tutelage of Joseph Pilates’ protégé,
Romana Kryzanowska, and her daughter, Sari Mejia Santo. She
continues to attend conferences, participate in Continuing
Professional Education seminars, and train privately with Sari and
her daughter Daria.
Ashley recently moved from New
York City, where she taught at numerous studios, including Drago’s
True Pilates and Pilates on 66th. She specializes in
Pilates for dancers, post-surgical rehabilitation and Pilates for
the elderly. She has an uncanny ability to identify pain patterns
and realign the body, all done with grace and humor.
Jen Stroud is an avid athlete. She understands what it takes to push
your body and mind to unimaginable limits. And she understands the
price one often pays for such physical exertion. An avid athlete,
she played collegiate basketball and volleyball and continues to
snow ski and run marathons. Seeking to improve her athletic
performance, she began taking Pilates classes. Amazed by the
immediate increase in strength and flexibility produced by the True
Pilates method, she determined to pursue her certification.
Jennifer completed her apprenticeship under Sari Mejia Santo and
Daria Pace, daughter and grand
daughter of renowned Pilates teacher Romana
Krzyanowska. She has taught at Pilates Flow in Singapore and True
Pilates Belgium in Antwerp, returning to Pilates Rx, her
home studio, in November 2013. Jennifer has taken workshops with
master teacher Cynthia Lochard, Anthony Rabara, and numerous
distinguished classical teachers. She is a certified Level V
Instructor and continuously strives to increase and improve her
knowledge of the method.
Passion and compassion
are hallmarks of Jennifer's approach to teaching Pilates. She
empowers her clients to find their own inner strength, recognizing
their limitations while challenging them to achieve more than they
ever thought possible.
